Captive Heart (Original)

Originally released May of 2021. Technically the second mod in the Perfect World Anthology after I decided Tainted Love did not work for the series anymore.

In this universe, we meet a young man (MC) who, after wanting to confess to his high school crush for a long time, ends up doing so in a twist of fate. That high school crush just happens to be Monika Akiyama, one of the most popular girls in school.

After dating for some time, Monika invites MC over to her house for dinner as her way of treating him. While waiting for dinner to be made, MC stumbles on a piece of paper that turns out to be a torn diary scrap with Monika's handwriting on it. Curiosity getting the better of him, he stumbles into a rabbit hole that leads him around Monika's house on a hunt for the rest of these torn diary scraps.

This mod is unique in the sense that, in addition to the familiar VN elements, there is a point and click aspect that allows you to explore Monika's house. The story revolves around getting to know Monika's past through these diary scraps and uncovering a secret she seems to be hiding. What could it be, though?

This mod has 4 different endings, 2 bad endings, 1 "worst" ending that I absolutely hated writing but made by request of Mr.Rocketman909, and a true ending, which is my personal favorite.

I put this mod up back in 2021, when it was just me and Mr.Rocketman909 still on the team. I was the writer, he was the coder. Admittedly, he did a few things I didn't approve of, such as taking elements I made for the true ending and putting them in a secret ending you unlock by playing through the mod a second time. It was inspired by the Charon game Mikoto Nikki, which in turn was partially inspired by Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary).

I used to be very proud of this mod. It was my first time truly writing Monika outside of Carpe Diem and what little work I did for October Horizon. I had a lot of fun working on it (outside of the conflicting ideas and game design philosophies me and Rocketman had) and it was an interesting mod we were both satisfied with. That was, until I saw certain reactions of the mod on YouTube. Ultimately, I grew to feel ashamed of the mod and even despise it after time passed. I then decided to take the mod down just due to the negative reception it garnered. While some people praised the creativity of the mod and even the story, others called it complete nonsense and felt the mod was garbage.

Because people keep asking me about this mod and continue to talk about it, I am going to reverse my decision and make the original Captive Heart available again. I will not do this for Tainted Love, as I still do not feel comfortable making that available once again. I honestly want that mod to stay lost. For the people who genuinely enjoyed Captive Heart, here you are again. I still say it will be worthwhile to play the planned remake instead, but here you go.

Yuri and Koto: Episode 1

Originally released in May of 2024.

This mod was written by NightmareNinja and PikminEye, with some additional writing from me. Aside from consulting with Akane, creating some sprite edits, and creating the logo and name, I took a backseat in writing for this one.

This story focus on Natsuki living on her own after life dealt her a cruel hand. She was at an orphanage before getting her own place and then landing herself in an all girls' school for the rich. She meets Sayori, who hails from a rich family. Over time, things are revealed about the school and she has to learn how to control her inner demons over the course of this episodic adventure.

This is the first episode of the series so far, as there are three episodes planned.

Happy Birthday, Akane!

An introduction to my OC girl, Akane, in her first solo outing. The story opens with Akane waking up on November 15, just to realize it's her birthday. Upon getting excited, though, she goes through the day and it seems that her friends in the Literature Club are kind of avoiding her. At least, that's what she feels, initially.

Released back in April 2023. This mod was written by me, coded by Mr.Rocketman909, Frikpulpo, and NightmareNinja for the first time. This was also the last mod to be coded by Rocketman before he left the team leaving to pursue "bigger and better things," as he put it to me.

Akane is a special character to me in the sense that not only was she the first DDLC OC that I ever came up with (outside of Megan, who never happened), but she was also partly dedicated to a girl who meant a lot to me that passed away in 2022. Half of Akane's personality came from her, the other half comes from me, in a sense. She has also become the defacto face of Team Traitor and my YouTube channel mascot.

Doki Doki Get Out

Doki Doki Get Out was made as part of a 2024 Plot Twist Mod Jam. Released in August of 2024 and completed within 10 days. Inspired by an episode of the Twilight Zone, I felt it was the perfect premise for a story.

Written by me and coded by NightmareNinja, the mod starts out with MC waking up in a house he doesn't recognize with Sayori. After talking with her, he finds out that not only are the other club members in there, but they all woke up here under similar circumstances.

After meeting up with the other club members, they see that they've essentially been sealed off in this house with no easy way of escape. With no way out and no explanation for how they all ended up there, everyone tries to cope and figure out how to escape. But can they figure out how to get out?

The mod can be finished within a half hour and has only one ending, no choices, just a straight shot to the end of the story.

Doki Doki Carpe Diem: Somnium

Originally released in August of 2023.

A remake of the original Doki Doki Carpe Diem. This mod was written by me and coded almost entirely by me, as well. The original coding from Nathan serves as a basis for this mod, but was taken and improved. 

This mod introduces Black Rose Akane, the Mistress of Forlorn, as the host for the story. After giving a brief recount of the original Carpe Diem, she introduces the new story.

The mod begins almost the same way, with MC waking up excited for his date with Monika today. After all, it's not just any date, it's their anniversary. They've graduated and they're spending some time together over the summer. While the mod still contains that same twist as before, things are handled a bit differently and ends on more of a hopeful note.

Finally, going back to Akane, she gives her thoughts on the story while also stressing the idea of what it means to "seize the day," and live a life with no regrets. Which was the main reason why I wrote this mod in the first place and wanted to make sure it was done justice.

Doki Doki Night Nurse

The fourth in sequence in the Perfect World Anthology. In this universe, MC is going to the Literature Club as per usual, only to find no one is there. No one except for Sayori, that is. Taking things in her hands, Sayori ends the meeting and takes MC back home to spend time with him. Things take a turn for the worse, however, when he suddenly finds himself becoming sick.

Sayori then takes it on herself to become his nurse to take care of him. While this might sound like heaven, MC feels as though there is something wrong with this picture. Between dealing with depression himself and the sudden bizarre turn of events, he isn't sure if there is something wrong with Sayori. He finds things even stranger when he cannot get a hold of the other Literature Club members, leading him to enlist some help to get to the bottom of things.

The mod switches between dual protagonists, MC who you see for most of the story, and Kotonoha, who MC contacts to help him once he grows suspicious of Sayori and the missing Literature Club members. The mod is a bit longer than the likes of Shattered Time and Wicked Witchcraft, having 4 endings across 2 major branching paths.

This mod was written by me and initially coded by Mr.Rocketman909, but was later re-released and recoded by NightmareNinja to fix a few errors and some things Rocketman made that I didn't fully sign off on. 

Doki Doki Wicked Witchcraft

Technically the third in sequence for the Perfect World Anthology. In this separate universe, MC finds himself abducted by a young woman named Yuri, who tells him she is a witch set on eating him for some cryptic ritual. Panicked, MC now has to find a way to escape or risk becoming dinner for the young witch.

This mod was written by me and coded by Mr.Rocketman909, who opted to create a mod that featured as many multiple endings as possible to rival Shattered Time. Something I wasn't fully on board with.

This mod has 9 endings and many choices to lead you down these paths.  There is also a secret ending you can obtain by obtaining the true ending one more time after having finished the game (a mechanic I  still find questionable). The mod itself is not very long, only being made longer due to the additional endings. This is a more lighthearted mod compared to Shattered Time and Captive Heart. Think of it as some sort of bizarre fantasy rom-com.
